Rhine drops to low water at Maxau, down 2 cm

Rain is coming to the Bavarian Danube: 45 millimeters over the next seven days, against 27 in a normal week. The Rhine at Maxau slipped 2 centimeters overnight to 328, which puts it below the level where ships start having difficulty, and the chance of a Rhine sailing day going as planned this week sits at 1 percent. That means loading lighter, a coach transfer around a shallow stretch, or a day rearranged, and the Danube at Pfelling held steady at 222 centimeters. Further out on the Rhine, November is at 52 percent as planned and December at 67.
