Rhine at Lobith climbs back above its trouble level

The Rhine came up overnight. Flow at Lobith rose from 1,121 to 1,204 cubic meters a second, which puts it back above the level where ships start having difficulty, and September's odds on a Rhine day going as planned edged up to 27 percent. The Danube is the harder one this morning. It stayed at low water at Budapest, with a 1 percent chance of a sailing day going as planned this week, which in practice means lighter loading or a swap to a sister ship past the shallow stretch with a coach in between. About 27 millimeters of rain is due in the Inn valley over the next seven days, near normal for early September.
