Rhine drops below low water mark at Maxau
Rain fell on the Bohemian basin yesterday, 4.1 millimeters against a normal 1.6, and the Elbe at Dresden held at 61 centimeters. Maxau slipped a centimeter to 306 and the Danube at Pfelling came down 4 centimeters to 248, both now under the level where ships start having difficulty, with a 1 percent chance of a sailing day going as planned this week. That usually means less weight carried, or a swap to a sister ship past the shallow stretch with a coach in between.
