Rhine falls 10 centimeters at Maxau

The Elbe is the easier river this morning, holding near 68 centimeters at Dresden with a 65 percent chance of sailing as planned this week. Rhine water levels fell 10 centimeters overnight at Maxau to 296, and the week there now sits at 15 percent as planned, down from 26 yesterday. Low water like this usually means a ship loads lighter, or passengers coach around a shallow stretch to a sister ship. The Danube at Budapest remains below the level where ships have difficulty, with November at 15 percent as planned and December at 26.
